Mortage Missteps Affects Your Credit Score

30 days late on mortgage payment could drop your score 60 to over 100 points. A short sale in lieu of foreclosure will probably cost you 70 to 125 points as well. It could take between as long as 3 years to return to your original credit score after a late payment and up to 7 years from a foreclosure or short sale.
